Meissa Inc. (CEO Young-hoon Kim) attended ‘SWITCH 2022 (The Singapore Week of Innovation and Technology 2022)’, the global startup exhibition held at the Singapore Resort World Convention Center between October 25th (Tues) and 28th (Fri).

Meissa is a smart-construction startup that promotes innovation in construction with drones and ICT. A spokesman for the company said, “Digitalizing the construction site with the spatial information quickly and easily collected from drones is the start of smart construction. And the fastest way to utilize drones at the sites is through Meissa.” They continued to introduce the company, saying, “Meissa Platform is the only service in Korea that combines all the processes needed in utilizing drones at the construction sites and started targeting global business development at the beginning of this year. Our business potential received attention in the Middle East region, and we plan to accelerate our expansion into the global market in the future, including the Southeast Asian markets.”

Meissa Platform automatically creates a flight path optimized for 3D modeling on a tablet without professional equipment, enabling anyone to film on drones like an expert, even without prior experience. The data collected with the drones are also automatically uploaded, helping users to use all the services, like filming, analyzing, and utilizing, on just one tablet without any extra medium for data storage.

Its ability to monitor the construction sites in 2D/3D, compare changes in time, and use a 360 camera in video-based monitoring for complementary use of on-site indoor and outdoor data are characteristics. Based on this accurate coordinate information, it is possible to design while comparing the floor plan and the site, enabling errors on site to be checked quickly. It assists efficient communication by creating a location tool at the desired point, saving notes, and unifying communication channels.

The stored site data will carry up when there are accidents or disputes. The platform can upload and download files of all formats – including Hangul, Word, and CAD – and keep site-related documents and manage their history.

A spokesman of Meissa explained, “Our company supports the only drone controlling application in Korea to enable higher serviceability and safety compared to overseas solutions. Even people without prior drone experience can operate this. Based on a high understanding of the source technology with the development of Korea’s only independent 3D mapping engine, we possess a competitive edge in technology compared to our competitors. In addition, we improved its convenience through measures like GCP registration support through a drone data platform specialized for the construction industry, local-coordinates support, BIM utilization, and IoT-based safety management.”

They concluded, “We will propose the optimal method to apply drones and smart construction technology to construction sites with Meissa’s experience and know-how accumulated from 10’s of thousands of flights and numerous site analyses.”

Having its 7th iteration this year, ‘SWITCH 2022’ is a global startup exhibition hosted by Enterprise Singapore, a public institution under the Singapore Ministry of Trade and Industry. Two organizations in KISED and Singapore’s KSC Center (KISED 10, KSC Center 10) selected 20 Korean startups attending ‘SWITCH 2022’. Between October 25th and 28th, the attending startups will be in the main event, where they will partake in programs like operating the K-STARTUP demo booth, K-STARTUP demo day, investor meetings, networking events, and pitching contests.
