5G SA Networks: The Future of Efficient Mobile Connectivity

As the world steadily transitions towards the 5G network standard, there’s an undeniable shift happening in the mobile network industry. The sector is moving towards 5G Standalone (SA) networking, offering unprecedented advances in simplified networking, efficient Operations and Maintenance (O&M), and user experience, as revealed in a recent press release from Huawei.

Understanding the Transition to 5G SA Networking

There’s a need to consider the standards development in radio access networks (RANs) and core networks. While previously out of sync, the sixth-generation of technology, 5G, appears to bridge the gap with its support for both Non-Standalone (NSA) and SA networking. However, 5G SA networking stands out as the optimal choice for return on investment, despite the heavy spending on 4G networks that accompany NSA networking.

Efficiency and User Experience with 5G SA Core Networks

5G SA core network construction can provide a fully convergent core network. This offers simplified networking, efficient O&M, and an enhanced experience. By reducing Virtual Network Functions (VNFs) and interfaces, decreased redundancy in core network resource allocation is achieved. Only one convergent core network needs to be maintained, leading to reduced O&M workload and improved efficiency. Additionally, signalling between different VNF generations is processed within the same VNF, leading to improved user experience due to reduced complexity and latency.

Driving Growth with New Services on 5G SA Networks

Upon network construction completion, increasing the number of 5G SA users is critical. Encouraging the use of the 5G function on 5G SA terminals through attractive packages and high-quality services can boost this. Growing SA users will spur on ROI growth for SA networks. A focus on cultivating user service usage habits and launching appealing service packages will aid operators in pioneering new services. This growth of new services will increase operator revenue and encourage a healthy ecosystem in the industry.

In closing, 5G SA networking offers significant advantages in terms of efficiency, user experience, and growth potential, emerging as the future of mobile networking. Pioneered by industry giants like China Mobile and Huawei, this disruptive technology is set to redefine how we connect and communicate.
