Who are we ?
Startup World Tech covers the startup and innovation ecosystem in Asia, with a focus on South Korea, for an English-speaking audience.
The site was founded in August 2020 by Leo Thevenet and Clement Jean, who still run it together. It is published from France and has covered the Korean tech scene from the start, from government innovation programmes to the startups exhibiting at CES and at Korean trade shows.
What we cover
Our archive holds more than 240 articles on South Korean startups and technology, alongside coverage of China, wider Asia, Europe and the United States. Recurring subjects include:
- Korean startups exhibiting abroad, in particular the Seoul Pavilion at CES
- Korean trade shows and expos, including FIX in Daegu, DIFA and H2 MEET
- Innovation and support programmes run by Korean ministries and agencies
- Company profiles, founder interviews and product launches
- Follow-ups on the companies we have covered, such as our two-year review of the CES 2024 Seoul Pavilion cohort
Who runs it
Leo Thevenet is the founder and publisher. He also founded Le Café Du Geek, a French technology news outlet running since 2012 and officially registered as a press publication in France (CPPAP), and DroidSoft, a French Android publication. He has served as a startup competition judge at Slush and Web Summit, and holds the Hi Seoul Friend award from the city of Seoul.
Clement Jean co-founded the site and remains involved in running it.
Working with us
We work with trade shows, innovation agencies and partner media to cover events and ecosystems that receive little English-language coverage. In South Korea we work with AVING News, whose reporting we publish and build on for our English-speaking readers.
Founders who want their company considered for coverage can use our Submit your startup story page. For partnerships, event coverage and press enquiries, please use our contact page.
Editorial standards
Articles based on a company announcement or a press release are written from that source. Sponsored placements and paid links are marked and carry the sponsored or nofollow attribute, and never influence our editorial judgement. We correct factual errors on request, and we note the correction on the page when we do.
