Arelion Cross-Border Fiber Route Boosts Connectivity in Tijuana

Arelion has made a bold move to strengthen its position in North America by launching a cross-border fiber route connecting Tijuana and San Diego. This new expansion aims to improve connectivity, scalability, and availability for both wholesale and enterprise customers, fueling digital growth in the region.

Arelion Expands with New Cross-Border Fiber Route in Tijuana

The new route represents Arelion’s first Point-of-Presence (PoP) in Tijuana and its tenth regional PoP in Mexico. By connecting the Neutral Networks’ data center in Tijuana with Arelion’s established PoPs in San Diego, the company can now offer terabit-scale capacities and low-latency connections between Mexico and the United States. Notably, this underground fiber route leverages advanced technologies, such as 400G coherent pluggable optics, ensuring more reliable, high-speed network services.

Empowering Mexican Service Providers with High-Speed Connectivity

Through this network expansion, Arelion supports local service providers and enterprises in Mexico by offering direct access to content providers and vibrant cloud and AI regions. Key highlights of this initiative include:

  • Connection to dual PoPs in San Diego
  • Access to major data centers in Phoenix and Los Angeles
  • Availability of diverse connectivity services, like IP Transit, DIA, Cloud Connect, and robust DDoS Mitigation

This investment aims to benefit edge users across Tijuana and beyond, improving both diversity and resiliency for existing and new customers.

Supporting Technology Growth and Industrial Investment in Baja California

Tijuana is emerging as a key technology hub, attracting investment amid rapid market growth in manufacturing and industrial development. The expansion follows increasing nearshoring in automotive, medical supply, aerospace, and electronics sectors. As a result, 55 aerospace and defense companies and 122 electronics manufacturers now operate in the city. This has spurred over $635 million in real estate investment for industrial space, further highlighting the city’s growing importance in global supply chains.

With its new cross-border fiber route, Arelion is not only addressing the increasing demand for high-speed connectivity but also supporting economic growth and digital innovation in Baja California. As more businesses seek reliable, scalable solutions in the cloud and AI domains, Arelion stands ready to deliver robust, resilient network infrastructure to meet those needs on both sides of the border.
