In a significant push towards digital inclusivity, the DigiTruck Kenya project recently celebrated the graduation of 290 young individuals in Homa Bay. These graduates have successfully completed a comprehensive six-week digital skills training program under Huawei’s TECH4ALL initiative, marking a milestone in efforts to bridge the digital divide in remote areas of Kenya.

The recent ceremony in Homa Bay was not just a celebration of completion but a step forward in empowering Kenya’s youth with essential digital skills. The training encompassed areas like computer literacy, digital marketing, entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and cybersecurity. Out of the 290 graduates, the balance between female and male participants was nearly equal, with 143 women and 147 men, emphasizing the initiative’s focus on gender inclusivity in tech education.

Powered entirely by solar energy, the DigiTruck is a mobile classroom equipped with all necessary digital tools and internet connectivity, designed to reach underserved communities. Since its inception in 2019, it has trained over 6,030 youths across 36 counties in Kenya. Adam Lane, Director of Government Affairs and Policy for Huawei, highlighted the project’s role in complementing the company’s broader educational partnerships and its critical mission of fostering digital literacy irrespective of geographical barriers.
