Huawei Grid-Interactive AIDC Strategy Propels Data Centers Forward

The rapid growth of the AI industry is pushing the boundaries of both technology and energy. At the 2026 Global AIDC Industry Summit, Huawei introduced its new grid-interactive AIDC strategy. This bold move marks a significant turning point for data centers, focusing on efficiency, sustainability, and future-ready innovations.

Huawei Unveils Next-Generation Grid-Interactive AIDC Vision

With its theme “Power the AI Era Forward,” the summit gathered close to 1,000 industry leaders and partners. Huawei’s leadership, including Hou Jinlong, highlighted the pressing challenges that modern AI workloads impose on power and computing infrastructure. Emphasizing that electricity is the foundation for AI’s long-term development, Huawei outlined plans to deeply integrate power systems with advanced AI infrastructure. Reliable, grid-friendly energy solutions will be critical for sustaining the explosive growth in AI demand. According to Huawei, future data centers must embrace new architectures, like high-voltage DC and liquid cooling, to stay ahead in this competitive landscape.

Innovative Technologies Reshape Data Center Efficiency and Power

During the event, Bob He detailed Huawei’s “3+1” innovation strategy, which underpins the new grid-interactive AIDC approach. These innovations include:

  • Watt Innovation: Introducing advanced multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) power supply architectures to flexibly support ultra-high-density computing loads.
  • Heat Innovation: Deploying AI-powered, MW-level liquid cooling systems for reliable, large-scale thermal management throughout the data center lifecycle.
  • Bit Innovation: Utilizing digital and intelligent tools to enhance operations, ensuring visibility, reliability, and efficiency across all data center processes.
  • Construction Innovation: Employing engineering productization, modularization, and prefabrication to speed up design, manufacturing, and onsite deployment.

Huawei’s approach aims to tackle the immense challenges presented by diverse AI workloads and growing renewable energy integration. Through these innovations, the company seeks to redefine the standards for energy-to-computing efficiency.

Driving Sustainable Growth: AIDC Metrics and Industry Collaboration

Bob He introduced a new industry metric: the TokEnergy Index (Energy-to-Token Ratio). He argued that traditional energy efficiency measures like Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) are no longer sufficient. Instead, the new metric will evaluate how effectively data centers convert energy into computing power—measured in “tokens.” Huawei also stressed the importance of collaboration across the global ecosystem. By partnering with industry leaders, the company aims to achieve greater reliability, lower operational costs, and greener outcomes for data centers worldwide.

Huawei’s grid-interactive AIDC strategy signals a major step forward for data centers in the AI era. By combining sustainable energy innovations, new operational metrics, and deep industry partnerships, Huawei is committed to powering the next generation of intelligent, efficient, and environmentally responsible computing infrastructure.
