Michigan Fiber Infrastructure Strengthened by Major Expansion Deal

Michigan is making bold moves to strengthen its digital backbone. Thanks to a new strategic partnership, fiber connectivity between Lansing and Grand Rapids will soon get a significant upgrade, enhancing the state’s digital future for residents and businesses alike.

Strategic Partnership Expands Fiber Network Across Michigan

STELLAR Broadband and 123NET, two leading Michigan-based technology providers, have announced a partnership to expand fiber connectivity from Lansing to Grand Rapids. This move solidifies a major investment in the state’s technology infrastructure. The collaboration secures access to 123NET’s newly built Southfield-to-Lansing route, creating broader, more reliable network paths. As a result, both partners are committed to preparing Michigan for increasing connectivity demands.

Investing in High-Density Fiber to Support Growing Demand

The joint project focuses on building an 83-mile underground high-density optical fiber line between Lansing and Grand Rapids. Combined with an existing eastern route, the network now stretches about 225 miles from Detroit (Southfield) through Lansing to Grand Rapids. This resilient, high-capacity fiber loop empowers STELLAR Broadband and 123NET to meet Michigan’s escalating bandwidth needs amid the digital transformation.

Enhanced Connectivity Brings Benefits to Communities and Businesses

With this network expansion, more communities and local businesses, especially those in underserved or previously unserved regions, will gain ultra-fast, multi-Gigabit fiber access. Multi-dwelling units (MDUs) and planned communities also benefit as STELLAR Broadband extends its services. Enhanced reliability, scalable bandwidth, and smart-home readiness are expected to drive economic growth and support modern lifestyles across Michigan.

In summary, the strengthened Michigan fiber infrastructure marks a new era for digital connectivity in the state. Strategic investments by STELLAR Broadband and 123NET pave the way for future-ready communities, improved business operations, and better experiences for residents. Michigan is well on its way to becoming one of the best-connected states in the country.
