Huawei has introduced new features for its Intelligent Distribution Solution (IDS), aiming to strengthen digital transformation in global power distribution networks. Revealed at CIRED 2025 in Geneva, these advancements target major industry challenges, including resilience and sustainability.
Huawei IDS Unveils Advanced Features at CIRED 2025
The showcased IDS features drew attention from 129 enterprises and over 2,600 industry experts from 72 countries at CIRED 2025. Huawei’s focus was to address frequent outages, grid resilience issues, and the rapid expansion of distributed PV and EV charging infrastructure. Using a “cloud-pipe-edge-device” architecture, IDS improves operational transparency and speeds up outage response. With large-scale deployments, especially in China, and pilot projects worldwide, IDS helps power companies reduce outage detection times and minimize line losses.
Innovative Technologies Boost Power Distribution Reliability
One key highlight is IDS’s new AI-driven feature for power distribution rooms. By integrating AI and IoT sensing, Huawei builds all-weather environment sensing networks that deliver real-time warnings around the clock. This proactive solution transforms maintenance from reactive to preventative, ensuring environmental risks and equipment issues are identified before they escalate. The result is improved power supply reliability and extended equipment life, especially as climate risks increase.
Huawei Drives Global Standards and Digital Transformation
Huawei also used CIRED 2025 to foster industry collaboration and promote international standards. During the IDS Rump Session, Huawei shared strategies for digital upgrades with global partners. The company continues supporting the IEEE P 2413.2 Working Group, aiming for transparent management of low-voltage networks and overcoming persistent global technical barriers. These efforts pave the way for smarter, more resilient distribution systems.
With these latest IDS enhancements, Huawei solidifies its role in advancing digital solutions for the global power sector. The company’s efforts not only improve operational efficiency but also set new benchmarks for sustainable, reliable power distribution worldwide.
