Hughes Ignites Tech Wave with Innovative Maryland Facility

In a pivotal move, Hughes Network Systems recently announced the inauguration of its innovative manufacturing facility and private 5G incubation center in Germantown, Maryland. As an initiative by an EchoStar company, the move highlights Hughes’ commitment to technological growth and enhancing regional talent.

Hughes Opens Cutting-edge Manufacturing Facility

The new Hughes Manufacturing Facility, referred to as EXM, produces U.S.-made hardware that powers networks globally. With around 400 staff including engineers and technicians, Hughes also employs advanced robotics for manufacturing high-tech products such as the Hughes HT3000W JUPITER™ System satellite modem and the Hughes HL1120W Low Earth Orbit satellite terminal. Notably, the set-up also acts as a testing ground for emerging private 5G solutions.

Enhanced Technology at Hughes’ New Facility

Strengthening its commitment to advancements in technology, Hughes aims to cater to both enterprise applications and secure 5G networking applications crucial for the U.S. Department of Defense with its new facility. As an industry leader, Hughes looks to continue a legacy of designing and manufacturing premier products in Maryland.

Fostering Local Talent through Hughes’ Initiative

The new manufacturing center, situated in the Pinkney Innovation Complex for Science and Technology on the Montgomery College campus, intends to offer hands-on training and educational initiatives to students. The opportunities for internships, mentoring, and shadowing pave the way for the development of local technical talent. Interestingly, this is the first-ever manufacturing facility on a U.S. community college campus.

Summarizing, the opening of the new Hughes facility not only solidifies their dedication to technological innovation and engineering expertise but also presents an opportunity for nurturing the next generation of industry leaders. Through the products imagined, designed, and fabricated here, Hughes maintains its mission of connecting everyone, everywhere in this constantly evolving digital world.
