Panasonic LUMIX Firmware Update Brings Powerful New Features

Panasonic is set to excite creators with its latest LUMIX firmware updates, combining powerful new capabilities with seamless workflow enhancements. The updates, targeting the LUMIX S1RII camera, S Series lenses, and LUMIX apps, aim to provide photographers and videographers with tools that boost creativity and efficiency.

Major Firmware Enhancements Arrive for Panasonic LUMIX S1RII

The new firmware update scheduled for 2025 brings significant improvements to the LUMIX S1RII. Users will soon access advanced recording formats, including 8.1K/7.2K Open Gate and RAW HDMI output. Furthermore, ARRI LogC3 profile support, available through a separate upgrade key, will enable LUMIX S1RII to match the color profile of ARRI’s popular cinema cameras.

Additionally, the update supports HEIF recording and introduces enhanced shooting tools such as Urban Sports recognition for dynamic movement detection. The firmware also adds new frame aspect ratios and greater workflow flexibility with direct transfers from camera cards to external SSDs.

New Features Come to LUMIX S Series Lenses and Apps

Panasonic is also rolling out improvements for their LUMIX S Series lenses—specifically the S-X50, S-R24105, and S-R2060 models. Key features now include the ability to use the focus ring as a customizable control ring and adjust focus rotation direction in manual mode.

For app users, LUMIX Flow gets its own boost with compatibility updates and new shooting assists, along with a mirroring monitor feature for wireless live view transfer. LUMIX Lab adds editing support for HEIF images and extends its compatibility to the latest LUMIX camera models.

Expanded Workflow Tools Support Creative Flexibility

This update expands workflow options with support for recording proxy files, integrating timecode sync via Bluetooth, and improving device connectivity. Creators will also benefit from Bluetooth compatibility with DJI gimbals and HLG View Assist for better exposure checks on various monitors.

Interface customization is further improved as users can assign key functions to the control ring and choose from multiple AF frame colors for enhanced usability and convenience.

With these updates, Panasonic LUMIX continues to empower visual storytellers by providing next-level features that address both creative ambition and workflow efficiency. As new tools become available, creators can expect even more versatility and control over their content in the coming year.
