Pioneering Woman Leads Transformative Oakville Redevelopment

Development manager Allison Hackel is making a difference in the male-dominated construction industry, leading the massive Oakville redevelopment project in Alexandria, Virginia. In collaboration with Stonebridge Associates and Lux Speed Internet, the project aims to transform unused industrial buildings into a thriving mixed-use community.

Breaking Barriers in Construction Industry

Allison Hackel, a civil engineering graduate from the University of Virginia, is breaking stereotypes in the construction world. Despite the engineering and construction industry being heavily male-dominated, Hackel has found a supportive community at Stonebridge, a real estate development and investment company. With more than seven years of experience with Stonebridge, Hackel brings her expertise and enthusiasm to the Oakville redevelopment project.

Oakville Redevelopment Highlights

The Oakville redevelopment will feature two residential buildings, townhomes, a health complex, a self-storage facility, and an extended City Park by 2024. Stonebridge Associates, a company focused on creating mixed living, working, and shopping spaces, aims to start renting to Oakville residents by February 2024. The ambitious project signifies a shift in urban development towards creating vibrant, sustainable communities.

Lux Speed Internet Partnership

As part of the redevelopment, Oakville will benefit from a partnership with Lux Speed Internet. The Fort Lauderdale-based internet company will be installing fiber-optic Wi-Fi technology throughout the entire community. This ground-up fiber network construction requires extensive planning and coordination, with Hackel playing an essential role in the partnership between Lux Speed and Stonebridge Associates.

With a strong team of experienced professionals and innovative partnerships, the Oakville redevelopment project sets a benchmark for urban revitalization and highlights the increasing diversity in the construction industry. It’s projects and leaders like these that push the boundaries and ensure the industry keeps moving forward.
