In a monumental stride towards its green initiatives, the ZTE Corporation, a leading provider of information and communication technology, has been recognised by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) for their efforts in reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Approving ZTE’s targets, SBTi acknowledges the company’s plan of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050 and its response to prevailing international decarbonization trends.

ZTE Achieves Major Milestone in Climate Action

Aligning with the 1.5°C temperature rise limitation pathway, ZTE’s science-based targets have received official recognition, making them the first large-scale ICT tech company in China to secure a place on the CDP A List. ZTE’s strategy in addressing global climate changes is a demonstration of their active response to the world’s environmental challenges.

Green and Low-Carbon Approach in ZTE’s Operations

ZTE has incorporated green and low-carbon strategies across its operations. The company aims to achieve a 52% reduction in GHG emissions by 2030, and 90% by 2040, with a goal of net-zero GHG emissions by 2050. Additionally, ZTE targets an “ultra-efficient ICT” and “zero” carbon network with methods such as intelligent photovoltaic power generation, hydrogen fuel cells, AI energy conservation, and more to pave the way towards a greener digital economy.

ZTE’s Impactful Results Towards Sustainable Development

Year-on-year, ZTE has accomplished significant results in its sustainable development journey. In 2023, the company reported a 9.7% decrease in overall carbon emissions, and a 3.0% decrease in operation carbon emissions. Over the past two years, operation carbon emissions further decreased by 15.6%, showcasing the impact of ZTE’s green initiatives.

In conclusion, as an influencer of the digital economy, ZTE maintains a potent focus on global economic green and sustainable development.
