Beomjun was established in 1999, and is a company promoting green progress by means of their new asphalt and concrete processing technology with special additives. They attended CES, one of the most influential tech events in the world, where they were given a stage among some of the most ground breaking innovators in the tech industry of today. Here, brands and businesses were able to congregate with partners and be featured among other outstanding innovators that represent all tech sectors. The event was created by the CTA, the Consumer Technology Association, and more about the attendees can be found here.
Beomjun – For future-forward roads
The South Korean Beomjun has gotten the approval of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport for their use of modified sulfur that comes as a by-product of industrial petroleum refining and is usually classified as waste.
The asphalt binder from the modified sulfur is used to elongate the performance of roads, while protecting it from black ice. This ecologically friendly technology uses 0% calcium chloride, and is named the PBI (Protection from Black Ice).
The roads durability is significantly increased by paving the road with a material that absorbs and releases heat on the road surface in accordance with the current climate and atmospheric conditions.
The PBI works by mixing so-called phase changing materials (PCM) such as calcium, magnesium and acetate with the other porous materials used to build roads instead of typical anti-freezing agents such as salt or calcium chloride. This process is more ecologically friendly than the latter method, as one of the objectives of Beomjun is to raise the recognition for environmentally positive concrete and asphalt additives to a high-performing road construction.
Beomjun is setting goals
Beyond this resolution, Beomjun is also aiming to prevent traffic accidents that frequently occur due to black ice forming on streets and causing cars to slide uncontrollably at high speeds, when temperatures of above -4 degrees and the corresponding environmental conditions occur.
Furthermore, they are now aiming to promote their product competitively domestically as well as internationally for its advantageous qualities such as high functionality, cost reduction and especially eco-friendliness.
Lastly, the plan is to launch a prototype and to recruit distributors, and in the course of the expansion to find talented human resources and improve marketing operations.
This outstanding company has succeeded in winning the King Sejong Award, and will no doubt prove a fabulous addition to the CES event.
