At FIX 2024, Autonomous a2z, led by CEO Jihyeong Han, unveiled its commercial-ready Level 4 autonomous shuttle, ROii. As the company’s first production model, ROii represents a significant leap in Autonomous a2z’s goal to bring cost-effective, fully autonomous transportation solutions to both the Korean and global markets. Through ROii, Autonomous a2z aims to transform group transportation by offering a fleet-ready shuttle that leverages robust AI-driven decision-making and situational awareness systems.
ROii: Autonomous a2z’s First Production-Level Shuttle for Smart Mobility
ROii is designed as a fully autonomous, 12-passenger shuttle that addresses scalability and functionality in urban transport. Initially presented as a prototype last year at the DIFA, this year’s model at FIX 2024 marks its commercial-ready debut. Equipped with Autonomous a2z’s proprietary AI software, ROii handles perception, decision-making, and operational control with no driver input, making it suitable for a wide range of environments, including shadowed or obstacle-filled spaces.
ROii’s unveiling comes at an opportune time as Korea’s Autonomous Driving Act will go into effect in March. This regulation will streamline government certification processes for autonomous vehicles like ROii, facilitating its commercial deployment. Autonomous a2z plans to begin sales in 2026, aiming to deploy 200 shuttles initially and scale to 1,000 units annually by 2027.
Scaling into Global Smart Cities and Expanding the Autonomous Market
Already providing autonomous driving services in several Korean cities, including Sejong, Incheon, Anyang, and Daegu, Autonomous a2z is targeting international markets. The company is actively exploring expansion into smart city projects in Singapore and the Middle East, regions with strong governmental support for autonomous and AI-driven transport solutions.
